We’ve got power – and so do you!

Tirzah Gibboney | Bridge of Hope Centre County | April 10, 2019

Bridge of Hope Centre County is a Strengths-based program that engages Christian faith communities in ending family homelessness through neighboring relationships that demonstrate Christ’s love.

What do we mean when we say we are “Strengths-based”?

We believe that everyone has the potential and ability that will help them to reach their goals.

We believe that each family leader is the expert on their family’s strengths and needs. They are the best ones to determine what is and is not best for their family.

We acknowledge that each family and individual is different and those differences are respected.

We partner with a family in reaching their goals – and fully understand that they are the FAMILY’S goals we are working towards, not our own. We want our families to feel empowered by the resources and information we provide for them, not dependent or belittled. We focus on each family’s unique capabilities rather than their deficits or what they are lacking. We believe that everyone’s story has the potential to change and evolve into something hopeful and beautiful, and that positive change happens in the context of healthy and authentic relationships.

And, finally, we believe that together we have the power to end family homelessness in Centre County! Our Donors, Volunteers, Board Members and Community all have unique strengths and abilities that help us to share and complete our mission. We appreciate each and every one of you, and welcome even more to join us in ending family homelessness!
