Kathryn Bainbridge | ACAP- Centre County Adult Children of Aging Parents
Caring for our parents becomes a way for us to give back, but is can also be challenging. Did you know that for over two years there has been a free monthly program held to provide support and answers to many health care questions related to our aging parents? The ACAP Community is a 501(c)(e) nonprofit organization focused on providing information, resources, and support to help us care for our aging parents and ourselves.
ACAP – Centre County offers informative and timely monthly programs, plus resources and community for those caring for aging parents. Our free monthly educational programs feature professionals representing: home health agencies, elder law, estate & financial planning, geriatric care, continuing care retirement communities, home care/healthcare companies and others. Programs are held the second Tuesday of each month from 5:30-7:00pm at Best Western PLUS University Park Inn & Suites, 115 Premiere Drive, State College. No RSVP’s are needed.
Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 13th with a health care panel discussing the various levels of care within healthcare services including: home health, nursing care, personal care/assisted living, and independent living.
Upcoming topics for 2017 include: Caregiving fatigue, Medicare/Medicaid, Driving Issues, Dementia/Alzheimer’s disease, and Veteran’s benefits.
To keep this program free of the community, ACAP has five core sponsors: Grane Home Health Care and Grane Hospice, Juniper Village at Brookline, Penn State Health, Foxdale Village, and Health South Nittany Valley.
